The Cashmere Stitch used as a border stitch.

Close up of the Cashmere Stitch.

The Cashmere Stitch does a great job of framing a design, like this Anna See Peacock canvas. Here’s why we like it:

  • It’s fast. This 8” x 11” border took about 2.5 hours.
  • It’s easy. Directions are below for creating an easy needlepoint cashmere stitch.
  • This stitch is fairly light on thread consumption.
  • It is moderately textured and adds a nice frame to this piece without being too ornate.

A needlepoint Cashmere Stitch can be stitched vertically, horizontally or diagonally. This example was stitched horizontally by following the pattern above. We started in the top right hand corner and turned the canvas around for the next row, following the same stitching pattern.
