Needlepoint News and
Press Releases

Needlepoint news press release October 2007.

BUCKLE UP WITH NEEDLEPOINT

Large belt buckles are popular fashion items, and needlepoint is making a comeback as a popular craft and pastime. This winter, you can combine the two by creating wearable art.

Needlepoint-for-fun.com, an online needlepoint company based in Laguna Hills, California, has teamed with fashion and home wares company, D.L. Rhein, to develop stitch-able belt buckle kits. Kits include a hand painted needlepoint canvas, a heavy metal belt buckle, and luxurious threads. Stitch with velvets, silks, metallics and cottons to create a unique belt buckle.

There are twelve needlepoint belt buckle designs, with leather belt straps that can be purchased separately. View the belt gallery and get further information at www.needlepoint-for-fun.com or phone 1 877 722 8463. Kits from $68.

LET'S BROOCH THE SUBJECT OF NEEDLEPOINT

The trend in needlepoint right now is for small, quick projects. Needlepoint-for-fun.com, a California company, has created a line of needlepoint brooches that are not only a cinch to stitch, but are wearable, too.

The brooches are packaged as kits that include:
  • 18 mesh mono needlepoint canvas with a small oval design handpainted on
  • an ornate brooch bezel in either antiqued gold or antiqued silver
  • optional threads that include silks, metallics, velvets and cottons (the customer can choose to buy the kit without the threads)
  • a color photograph of the completed design
  • instructions for finishing

“This is a project that can easily be stitched in an evening,” says Brenda Stimpson, co-owner of Needlepoint-for-fun.com. “And the brooches have multiple uses. Traditionally they are worn as brooch pins, but I also use mine as a scarf clasp in winter and to accessorize fabric belts”

There are six needlepoint brooch designs. Professional finishing is recommended and this can be arranged through an independent needlepoint store or through www.needlepoint-for-fun.com. Stitchers looking for more information, or to purchase online, can find the entire range at www.needlepoint-for-fun.com under Jewelry.
